What is the role of the chairperson?  The chairperson convenes the commission, sets the agenda, and communicates with the vestry liaison concerning the goals and activities of the group.

What is the role of the vestry liaison?  Every vestry member is liaison to at least one commission or committee.  The vestry liaison attends commission meetings, and communicates decisions and concerns between the commission and the vestry.

What is the difference between a commission and a committee?  The term has historically been used at St. Paul's in a variety of ways.  Currently, their use is largely interchangeable.  Commission carries some weight of a permanent group, possibly overarching other groups.  For example, the Worship Commission.  Committee sometimes, but not always, refers to groups with a specific lifetime.  For example, the Capital Campaign Committee.  For simplicity on this page, they are all referred to as commissions.

Almighty and everliving God, ruler of all things in heaven and earth, hear our prayers for this parish family. Strengthen the faithful, arouse the careless, and restore the penitent. Grant us all things necessary for our common life, and bring us all to be of one heart and mind within your holy Church; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
